The Government of Tanzania intends to better integrate the Northern Mara region with its capital Musoma with the Arusha region and with the rest of Tanzania. The provision of adequate transport infrastructure is a pre-supposition to reach this goal. First ideas for construction of gravel road through UNESCO Natural World Heritage Serengeti National Park (SENAPA) were reconsidered due to international pressure to protect wildlife. On behalf of KfW, TCP International is evaluating alternative solutions to improve transport connections and thus accessibility of northern regins while bypassing and preserving the Serengeti as much as possible.
