Description:
The Tren Tanspeninsular is planned in the south of Mexico. A heavy railway line is planned from the touristic city Cancún (850.000 inhabitors) to the provincial capital Merida (950.000 inhabitors). The line runs from Cancún along the Riviera Maya and passes the Maya Pyramids Cobá und Chizen. American standards will apply to the track work, European standards to the signaling system (ETCS level 2). Double stack push-pull trains with diesel electric gear from the international market are foreseen. The project is planned by local engineers. TCP brings its international knowledge to the project, examines the whole planning and elaborates improvements.
