Mr. Schürmann has been commissioned by the Environment Public Authority (EPA) of the State of Kuwait to prepare a status report on the establishment of the National Environmental Information Network (NEIN). Besides the description of the steps already implemented for the network establishment, the report also develops proposals for the administrative and technical, GIS-based implementation of the network. The network is aiming at the improvement of administrative and technical cooperation of several public authorities acting in the fields of the environment in Kuwait, adhering to latest international standards in the environmental reporting domain. Apart from improved information exchange, the network strives to build new technical GIS-based solutions for effective and actual environment monitoring. The establishment of NEIN Kuwait is fully supported by UNEP.
